I have attempted to anticipate the most common questions that you may have about my service in the Terms & Conditions. However, if you cannot find the answer here then please do contact me.
What information do I need to provide for you to commence researching my family tree?
When you order one of my packages I will send you a form for you to complete. There will be a space on the form for you to fill in all the information that you have regarding your family. The basic information, such as names and birth, marriage and death dates (and location of these events) of your parents, grand-parents and even great-grandparents (if you know them) will form the starting point of my research. When completing this part, please ensure that it is as accurate as possible. Any other information, such as employment, and names of other relatives will also help.
How do I pay?
On the web page for each package there is a "Place Order" button. This will take you to the payment section. For the One Surname Package, payment in full will be required before I commence my research. For the Seize Quartiers and Two Surname Packages a deposit of 50% will be the minimum required before I begin researching. The balance will be payable upon completion of my research and before delivery of your book/report. I will send you an invoice for this balance which can be paid by bank transfer (my account details will be provided on the invoice).
How long will my research take?
If you have ordered the Seize Quartiers package, I would allow approximately 12 weeks for your research to be completed and your book delivered. For the One and Two Surname packages it will normally take eight to nine weeks to complete. The Heirloom will take the longest as there is considerable work involved in conducting the research and preparing your book, and should be commissioned about six months in advance of the wedding.
Some of the time involved is due to waiting for official copies to come through and then the final production of your book. As such there can sometimes be external factors that can delay the delivery of my research results. I will keep you informed should there be any delays to my projected time scale.
When placing your order it is important to specify if there is a particular date that you would like it to be completed by (i.e. someone's birthday, anniversary or Christmas) if it is intended as a gift.
Are there any choices in the style of my book?
Yes. Whilst the standard book format will be matt hard-back with printed title on the front cover, for an extra £75.00 you can choose to have your book bound in real leather, with foil embossed title to the front cover and a ribbon marker. With the exception of The Heirloom, the book size will be A5 for both options.
Each option can be chosen when placing your order, and don't worry, you can always change your mind as to the one that you would like so long as you do so in writing and at least two weeks prior to my anticipated completion date (as notified to you in my weekly updates).
There is considerable flexibility with the front cover design and I will send a proof for your approval prior to going to print.
